a taste of awesome

Kay, this is sort of a teaser-taster OYAN post. Just pictures. Of pretties.

More to come, once I've stolen some pics off the Internet. Yay stealing!

Got some brilliant ideas from my group this year, as well as the agent who conducted my mentoring session. Yay yay. Now I'm itching to edit. Later, dudes!

Time for finals!

That means it's time for doodle procrastination. Woot!

I've been drawing lots of Angeli lately because figuring out how six wings fit on one back is quite an ordeal.

See, another one. It could be Consolata, Memoria's sister.

Speaking of Birthright, I attempted to draw the scene where Andra and the boys are trying to escape the warehouse where Fabello's thugs have them trapped. I don't like the composition, but I do like Andra and Matteo's faces.

And now, Mistborn.

Because Vin is one of my favorite badass lady heroines ever.

Also, she and Elend are so adorable together. (I gave up on drawing Vin's clothes becase mistcloak is more important than clothes.)

And now, change of pace. I've been thinking about my teenage spies lately. It would be so fun to make their story more original and actually use them for things. The lovely Baeli with her sexy messy bun.

Timo and Baeli flirting their heads off. "No. I'm not fixing it again." "But I broke it!" "Your point?" "You're morally obligated to fix it now." "Am not either."

And there they are doing homework together. Because in addition to being hot together, they are also best friends. It's pretty great. Also, I gave up on Timo's legs, in case you couldn't tell.

Not to switch topics abruptly or anything, but let's have some Magical Steampunk Gypsies now. Specifically, my sassy gypsy viper and her garroting wire. (Gave up on her hands. Surprise.)

And here is Katia's new sky pirate character, Gideon the ship's boy. He's like whoa adorable.

And then there was Drama with a D between Erik and Suvoi, and there was angst and sexual tension  and they just need to bang already but they can't because he killed her family but she doesn't know that yet and just gaaaaaaaaah drama. It's awful, but I love it so much.

And switching again, here's a jaguar-centaur lady I made up for my treasure hunters to hang out with. She's a sihiri dawa and yes, I realize her boobs are showing. Get over it.

And here's a random faerie, which means it's prolly time to make another faerie door. I think I shall name her Speckle.

And here's the Marquis de Cabaras, the slimy git himself. Actually, I like him lots, but he is pretty slimy. (Neverwhere is so fantastic. I'm still not done reading it, but I love Neil Gaiman's style.)

Tenth Doctah! I still can't draw David Tennant, but whatever, he's still frickin' awesome. I'm watching Ten's seasons again with Matt because he hasn't seem them yet, and it's so fantastic, I can't even gah.

And lastly, Laini Taylor announced the title of her last book, Dreams of Gods and Monsters! I might just die of excitement. Anyway, to celebrate/procrastinate, I drew Akiva and Madrigal makin' out. Because they're sexy beasts.

So yep, that's what's been happening in the margins of my notes for the semester. More doodles later, perhaps.

But first, finals. Yeah.

Merry Hannukwanzmas!

Hey dere, peeps! Sorry for vanishing during the hollydays; finals happened, then break. I fail at internetting. Anyways, Anabeth and Thaelen want to wish you a merry Christmas, if you celebrate that sort of thing. And even if you don't.

Do note that they're both wearing clothes. That's gotta be a first for them. Lol.

Break has been all right so far. There's been good stuff and bad stuff, but I'm gonna save all that for later. It's Christmas, and that's nice, so everything else can wait till later.

You're all fabulous. I don't think I say it enough, but you really are.

Also, guess what I'm going to my grandma's house to watch this evening? DOCTOR FREAKING WHO, that's what. Should be pretty great.

Off to chill with mah family. Later!

Halloween debriefing

Yep, that's what's going on here. Some cool costumes of the day.

Joey's excellent Captain Hammer (he actually did Dr. Horrible also, for the Halloween Dance, but I stupidly didn't get pictures of that one.)

The Doctor Who pumpkin I carved, along with my package from home that finally came, yay! With my weapons in it, and my mistcloak, and some apples and stuff. Yay family.

Anna in her gender-bent 10th Doctor costume. I lent her my sonic for the occasion.

The hand thing. They always do the hand thing in the promo pictures for that show. It's kind of hilarious.

And lookit, I've been meaning to do this for years, and I finally went and did it! Raven from Teen Titans! Heck yeah!

Elinor was Hermione. The Doctor, the empath, and the bookworm, that's us!

And on a rather unrelated note, the Kildahl main lounge was closed this weekend so the JCs could decorate for the Kildahl Ahl Hahl Fahl Bahl, so we were all homeless. There we are sitting on the floor in the hallway. We seriously don't know what to do with ourselves when we can't hang out in the lounge. Also, Alex's face always looks like that. Just, all the time.

See, proof. By the way, that was the birthday cake they baked for no one in particular over break. The three of them just decided that there should be birthday cake even though it wasn't anyone's birthday. And holy crap, I ate one piece of that cake and I thought I was going to die. Easily the richest cake I have ever eaten. I had to lay on the floor for a while and devote all my energy to digesting it.

Anyway, Halloween was lovely, and Matt and Anna and I watched the next episode of Sherlock, which was the Hound of the Baskervilles one, and it was terrifying. I don't like seeing Sherlock unnerved. It freaks me out. Now they're telling me that I'm not emotionally stable enough to watch the last episode. They're probably right, but I still want to see it. Badly. But first, homeworks!

Oh, and the campuswide lightsaber battle was Friday, and it was freaking epic. Bruised several of the fingers on my right hand. Killed lots of Sith. Got mistaken for one several times because my purple lightsaber blade looked red under the blacklights. Whatever, it was awesome and geeky and I love my college, have I mentioned this?

Then Saturday was the Bahl, but first I opted out of the fancy dinner beforehand in order to not miss the entire session of D&D, which was a good thing, because Ileana got her memories back from an Altar of Restoration thingy and had an awesome meltdown because she remembered that she accidentally killed everyone who ever took her in and cared for her after she slaughtered the rest of her family. It was so epic. Too bad most of our party was gone, so they missed it. So after D&D, I went to the dance for like ten minutes, then watched Peter Pan in the basement, then went back up for the "last song" which lasted an hour because we're just great like that. Or maybe because of Daylight Savings. Whatever, it was marvelous.

Side note: Days of Blood and Starlight comes out today! *cannot wait to get hands on*

nearly break!

Sup dudes. For me, fall break starts this evening. Heck yeah. But first, I need to edit my Great Con paper. Ulp.

Campus looks like this right now. It's pretty marvelous.

Omnomnom leaves. Look at this - a gorgeous old harmonium!

There's me dressed as a pirate for International Talk like a Pirate Day. I'm making that face because my phone is demented.

Our awesome box fort, with Alex making a sexyface in the window. It's been fortified substantially since I took this picture (and the walls are slanting less) but we're going to have to deconstruct it somewhat in order to build a tank around Elinor's electric scooter for Halloween.

A terrifying bit of the stairwell in the art building. HOLY CRAP THERE'S LIKE FIVE NESTS OF SILENCE IN HERE. What, what am I talking about?

Three of the maquettes I made for my sculpture class.

So I was gonna go home for fall break, but then I didn't work out a ride and I also discovered that there's a whole bunch of fun stuff going on here. So no. I'll miss seeing my family, of course, but I'll Skype them this weekend. It'll be fine. Since I'm staying here, I get to (1. work a few hours at the dorm front desk, (2. watch Sherlock - I promised Matt I would, (3. play Assassin with some other kids in my dorm, (4. go Halloween costume shopping at Ragstock, (5. go to a drag dance in honor of Coming-Out Week, (6. go to the Firefly marathon at Carleton, (7. and wash my sheets. It should be a pretty awesome break. Although our Great Con professor assigned a buttload of reading, which makes me sad. I thought it was supposed to be a BREAK?... Eh, whatever.

Goodbye, Ponds. We'll all miss you.

And here I was thinking Rory was literally indestructible. Dangit, Moffat, I love you so much usually, and then you go and do these things and make us cry and then I can't help but hate you just a tiny bit.

THE FEELS!

Angels... Manhattan... AURGH...

Yeah, basically, I'm just posting because this morning I finally got caught up on the last few episodes of Doctor Who: Series 7, including A Town Called Mercy, The Power of Three, and Angels Take Manhattan. And I am physically unable to contain the feels.

*FEELSPLOSION*

Yes. I cried pretty hard. Shutting up now. Spoilers. But it was great to see the Angels again! They're always fun. Plus, I don't have to feel guilty about missing episodes because of DnD every week now. Until after Christmas, that is. Still need to finish the Series 4 specials. In all my free time. Yeah.

And now a scary picture.

It is a crack in the skin of the universe, in case that wasn't obvious. I found it at music camp this summer. RIGHT NEXT TO THIS:

I may have freaked out a little.

Anyhoo. Theory. Yeah.
