been awhile

since I posted any MSG, hasn't it. Well, here.

Recently I was trying out a wardrobe redesign for Suvoi, since we're rolling with the "sandpunk" thing now. I imagine the Peregrine would wear loose, billowy clothing that they could easily batten down at the ankles, wrists and neck during sandstorms. What Suvoi's got on here would be more like oasis wear, or half-dressed in her tent - bare arms and feet, loose hairstyle, not something you'd go out in.

Here's a scene Giddy and I sort of skirted around but never wrote. Erik's handler, the brutish Ruska, takes his whip to the "stupid boy" one too many times for little Suvoi to handle.

Aaaand look at where that got her. But honestly, I'm glad I finally finished this one up. It was haunting me.

I've actually been drawing a ton, but it's all just little doodles in my class notes. Will probably post a whole bunch after finals are done this week. Speaking of which, omg kill me.

ALSO STAR WARS COMES OUT TOMORROW AAAAAAAH

the bastard and the viper

I keep finding drawings of Erik and Suvoi that I've given up on and abandoned partway through.

You will probably be getting more Mass Effect next because I got my own Xbox and started a new Shep, woo! I do hope I can figure out how to retrieve my old data though because I will miss poor GingerShep terribly if I can't get her back,. *tear*

in which KP knows how to draw one thing and one thing only

And that thing is Suvoi Emana. Surprise.

Modeled using the facial features of Claudia Black.

Elijah, "Doctor" Enoch, Suvoi, and Erik, in their mining jumpsuits.

Honestly that whole storyline was an excuse for me to draw Suvoi in a tank top, not gonna lie.

Well, there might have been character development too. Hard to avoid when you lock your characters in an underground medical facility while subterranean horrors rage through the rest of the complex causing death, terror and power outages. What else is there to do but find out some things about each other?

I mean, who knew Erik could sing? Or be comforting, for that matter?

Will ye go, lassie, go
And we'll all go together
To pluck wild mountain thyme
From among the bloomin' heather

Giddy and I have had some truly spectacular roleplaying sessions with these two. We refer to this one, in which they try to murder each other in a Ratways alley in the rain, as the "Demons incident" after the very apt Imagine Dragons song. (Now, to be fair, he was hired to kill her because she'd become an important leader of the rebellion, and she was just defending herself, but it also ended with both of them losing large amounts of blood and also admitting that they were in love with each other.)

And now, allow me to walk you through the arduous process of using a tablet without a proper painting program, using Suvoi as an example.

Lines done in ArtRage. Nice brush. Pen sensitivity - A+.

Exported and flat-colored in Paint.Net because I didn't know how to do layers in ArtRage.

More layers in Paint.Net. No brushes available. Look at those gross round edges. And how blend?

Cropped, flattened and imported back to ArtRage. Brushes, great, blending knife, awesome, but no layers.

So that took the better part of an afternoon. What I wouldn't give for, say, Photoshop right about now.

just in case anyone needs more Erik and Suvoi in their lives

I suspect Giddy and I are the only ones who do, but eh, you know, whatever. They're just too fun to draw.

Babby Suvoi! Probably eight or nine years old here. Pre-everything in her life becoming horrible.

Whenever I get bored, my hand just automatically starts drawing Suvoi's hair. It just keeps happening. I don't know why.

Mines. I hope we actually write that part ever.

The 'fancy frock' referenced in the original Crimson Hand Job thread.

Oops my hand slipped.

Looking bedraggled and confused and wrapped in a towel for unknown reasons.

Erik! I've been trying to get a more consistent look for him (modeled largely off of Michael Fassbender, as per Gideon's request).

And more mines things - Erik sulking and Suvoi hauling him to the med ward after the blood poisoning gets really bad.

Also this happens from time to time.

There's a lot more where these came from so brace yourselves stay tuned.

instead of comfort food...

I've been doodling MSG in the margins of my Italian notes. Reflexively. Mostly Erik and Suvoi.

And also this monster cast photo type thing. As I was drawing it, I kept thinking I was forgetting someone, and sure enough, as soon as I took a photo of it I realized: I completely forgot about Rek Skyfeld. I suck. I'm trying to draw him into the background, but we'll see how well that goes. So for now, from left to right: Erik, Angarhad, Harkin, Ceridwen, Marcus, Suvoi, Elijah, Sasha, the Tinker (plus drone), and R.E.S.A..

Disclaimer time, this was my first attempt at drawing some of these characters, and I was lazy and didn't look up descriptions, so if anyone is offended by a misrepresentation of their character, I apologize.

There will most likely be more MSG scribbles soon. These people are just too fun to draw.

Oh, also, Italy's great! Pop over to the sidebar and visit Dancing with Dante to see pictures!

MSG dump

Because I definitely draw MSG characters in the margins of my notes waaay more often than anything else.

Suvoi Suvoi Suvoi

Remembering Thorn's death.

Sorry 'bout the naked.

"We've been down here for weeks, Erik! I need the sky, I need the air, I'm suffocating in this pit! I just... I'm cold."

This hasn't happened and probably won't happen, but it is technically an option for Lotus-exorcism.

Playing around with a younger Erik Laroque, about the age he would have been when he destroyed the Tabara camp and killed Suvoi's family.

Still trying to nail down a haircut for Angarhad Dorsal, Ceridwen's perpetually naked sister. Too long here.

This is better, I think.

Also trying to age Kaly and Teris Thorn up by seven years so they can participate in the Rebellion thread. Teris remains much the same, but Kaly becomes more relaxed, more comfortable with herself. Her brother is a good role model. Now they're both fighting to take down the Cleansers like a couple of total badasses.

And then there's the End Times, which I would love to get going again. Here we have Razma standing guard over Noah as he freaks out about the voice only he can hear.

Also, psychic possession issues (Miasma you are a bad.) Also the potential for eventual cuteness.

Thee end. Thanks kids.

my brain is so done

We just turned in our cumulative Great Con essays that were supposed to synthesize everything we've learned in the past two years of this program. Pulled my first all nighter, woo! And by "woo" I mean "oh god everything hurts I just want to die but I have more papers due aaugh."

So, y'know, I'm making a blog post instead.

Have a teensy doodle of Alaska.

The angel Aziraphale from Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's Good Omens. Oh my god, he is the most adorable thing, all bookish and awkward. I ship him and Crowley so hard.

This is a DnD character you guys haven't met yet! He's from the evil pirate campaign we started over Interim this year. His name is Jackdaw and he's not actually evil; he was press-ganged into joining the small and motley crew of this pirate ship and just really doesn't want to be there. He's also fifteen and likes dick jokes. Because he's a teenage boy.

Some elflady, I dunno.

And sometimes I actually draw in my sketchbook. Weird, I know. I was thinking about putting Kaly and Teris Thorn into our present-day Guaren threads on MSG. Because I like them and there's not much more to be done with them in the thread they're in right now. I sort of like the idea of Kaly morphing from this bitter, angular teenager into a serene young woman who's made peace with the demons of her past. Also, I want to have her and her brother working to destroy this "benevolent" childcare organization that takes kids off the streets and shelters them, only to sell them to chemical testing companies when they reach a certain age.

And on the subject of MSG, have a fabrant. An old one. I think I drew this last semester.

And a super super old sketch of Obi-Wan and Siri that I abandoned, came back to, and abandoned again. Gaah, they're so cute and I've never been able to do them justice in my art. 'Tis a sad thing.

Also, remember a while back when I read Clockwork Princess and decided that the love triangle could have totally been solved by a hot threesome? I may have tried to draw it a little bit. Will and Tessa and Jem, being unjealously hot together.

Oh, and speaking of hot, there will certainly be some Karou and Akiva art heading your way once I have time to properly draw again. Meanwhile, quick messy Ziri sketches that just happened after I finished Dreams of Gods and Monsters. Gyaah, that book was so pretty. I just wanted to, I dunno, lick it. And Ziri definitely grew on me, the sneaksy little bugger. (Also I've been drawing Eliza a lot because she is a hottie and a really awesome lady and I ship her and you-know-who super super hard. Seriously, they need their own spinoff, like Mik and Zuzana.)

So that was a good time. Although I did have to lie in bed and cry after I finished it because it was so beautiful and aching and bittersweet and certain and uncertain and just waaaaah.

Can't wait until I have access to a scanner again. Gross phone pix are gross.
