a few more Ryders

Still haven't played any more Andromeda, but I do want to get to know my girl better.

And her fabulous sibling Castel.

They're good friends.

more voltron, surprise

Shocking, I know. But listen, I haven't fallen this hard for a ship since probably Jackanda, which is super saying something. I've been reading fic, even.

(Also Alex was sweet enough to watch the rest of Season 2 in preparation for marathoning Season 3 with me and Ari when we visited him in Guilford since I couldn't watch it at home because we didn't have internet yet... love that boy.)

Anyway here's some Shiros.

And some Keefs.

Had to draw him in the Blade of Marmora suit because come on, seriously.

Gay.
Also I love Pidge and Hunk and their science bros vibes.

"Nothing's gonna happen to you, Shiro. Stop talking like that."

Uhhh I have nothing to say for myself other than Shiro does legitimately have enormous pecs.

Listen, the evil clone was hot okay.

Liked this sketch enough to turn it into a painting (based on the song Illuminate by Yellowcard).

Why are they so Yellowcard. This one's MSK.

You can't tell me they didn't make out in the black lion at least once. (Cut Me, Mick.)

Oh whoops I'm sad. (Make Me So.)

Still holding out for an astral plane reunion. (Takedown.)

Some sad and angry Season 3 Keefs.

There's definitely some clone shit going on here. Can't wait for their Real reunion in Season 4.

I've started grad school now, so this pattern of not posting here for months at a time will likely continue. Such is the way of it. I like the classes so far though - much chiller than Olaf.

Starbound

Ari and Alex and I have been playing Starbound this summer as a way to hang out and keep in touch while exploring weird alien planets and fighting monsters and all that good stuff. We've built a very nice house together and filled it with essential equipment. I'm playing a Floran named Safua because the concept of flesh-eating plant people was too good to pass up.

Tried out a variety of mouth shapes on her and eventually settled on the mandibles.

Very tiny watercolor practice.

She had a Moment with Ari's plasma girl Sig tonight where they both stood on the roof of an old ruin and watched the sunrise together and Sig got naked somehow.

We've started Warcraft too, because we're all huge nerds, so there will be doubtless a post about that at some point too.

so we might have started watching voltron

and predictably, Ari and I are in Sheith hell.

Literally, truly and seriously, how did anyone watch this scene and think they were platonic friends??????? The shipping wars in this fandom are UNREAL dude.

Guadalupe and Castel Ryder

Ari got me Mass Effect Andromeda for the PS4 as a graduation present and I just started playing it yesterday. I had started planning my Ryder siblings before the game was actually in my possession, and I had come up with this:

Guadalupe Ryder, the shorter buffer twin, and Castel, the genderfluid younger twin. Adventure in their blood and makeup on point.

I played around with a bunch of different looks for Lupe (knew I wanted her short and muscular with killer brows, and not much else), but settled on Castel pretty quick. Also there's Papi Alec at the bottom.

Thought I had her settled...

Then went into the actual character creator and this was the closest I could get.

Which, to be fair, wasn't bad.

There were no good light pinks for the hair, no way to make the brows thicker, no good fluffy bob, and no facial piercings, but I did get a few cool scars and a wicked tattoo out of the deal, so I'm happy overall. So there's my girl. She's gonna bang Vetra probably.

Cale is still truckin' along

I haven't done Virmire yet because I'm a baby and I'm not looking forward to, y'know, suffering, but anyway here's Cale.

He looks a lot like one of my art teachers from high school, which absolutely wasn't on purpose, but it does make me giggle from time to time.

He and Garrus have undeniably been flirting. The plan is to have Cale romance Kaidan in the third game, but I am a big fan of Bi Garrus.

Oh, Noveria. Literally every possible pairing in ME1 has at least like ten fluffy "sharing body heat" fics set on Noveria.

Guns are hard. You'd think as much time as I spend drawing Mass Effect stuff, I woulda learned how to draw them by now.

In other (Dragon Age) news, I screwed up the end of Merrill's Act 3 quest and couldn't turn in like four other side quests, so I went back to a 3-hour-old save to try it again. Which means I have to kill a fully-grown dragon and a fairly large abomination again. Yay.

Enna's final days

Boy, did my Warden go through the wringer. I already mentioned how things went down with Morrigan when they spent the night at Redcliffe, but I just wanna stress how distraught Enna was to hear that Morrigan would rather sleep with Alistair than her, because Morrigan and Alistair have never agreed about anything ever and can barely stand each other but Enna had been going out of her way to get on Morrigan's good side and be friends with her even though they didn't really agree about anything either.

It didn't matter in the end because Enna's persuasion wasn't high enough to convince Alistair to sleep with Morrigan anyway, so she didn't get her Old God baby, for better or worse.

Ah, but we're not even to the most scandalous part of this story yet. After Morrigan left and we went on to the final battle, Leliana barely spoke to Enna at all other than her short little scripted goodbye sequence, so all I could think was that she must have seen Morrigan go into Enna's room that night, and then seen Enna go into Alistair's room, and thought is there anyone besides me she hasn't slept with tonight?

Grieving, of course, but knowing they all probably only had a few days left to live, she didn't confront Enna with her suspicions, but didn't sleep with her again either.

And at the end, when Alistair tried to take Enna's place and Wynne held him back while Enna went dead-eyed to her death (she'd looked like that ever since Morrigan deserted them), Leliana could only watch, knowing that she should protest Enna's sacrifice but knowing also how badly she wanted to die.

Enna did kill the Archdemon, and her soul was destroyed, but at least she had the pleasure of stabbing a dragon to death first.

Following her death, the dwarves made her a Paragon and named a new noble house after her, to which all the casteless flocked. The Wardens raised a towering statue of her in the courtyard of their new headquarters, which she would have loved. And Leliana grieved doubly, for both the person Enna had been at the start of their adventure and for the bitter shell she had become by the end.

And now on to an equally fucked up Hawke, woohoo!

oh god Dragon Age

I finished Origins last weekend and started 2 a few days ago while home sick. Boy. I have some feelings. And more art to post from the end of the game, but first, have a Hawke.

Imran was a top-rate smuggler for Athenril and is known in the shadier circles of Kirkwall for always being happy to help for a bit of coin and a good joke or two. Laughing is such a good way to hide your problems. He's probably going to rivalrymance Fenris if I can figure out how to do it.

finally finished farscape season 3

And oh boy do I have some feelings. And by some I mean a lot.

Aeryn has been doing this slicked-back soldier look lately and she's so fierce and I'm dying thanks.

URGGGHHHHHH

Also he's off the show at this point but I still don't know how I feel/felt about Crais because yes he helped them out sometimes but he also betrayed everyone like constantly and you could never really tell whose side he was on. He did get his hero's death in the end, so that redeemed him somewhat, I guess. (But also the way he kept coming on to Aeryn even after she made it clear she had no interest was really uncomfortable.)

Oh man, I loved Xhalax as a character. Like, she's terrible obviously, but the concept is so good. Hardened soldier falls in love with a fellow soldier, they have a kid, the military makes them give the kid up, she sneaks in to tell babby Aerin she was conceived out of love and she'll always have a mother who loves her, and then the Peacekeepers find out and make her kill her mate and renounce her daughter and she's still bitter about it some twenty or thirty years later. And then Crais shoots her by accident just as she and Aeryn are trying to reconcile because Crais is an asshole like that.

"What's wrong?" "Radiation. Massive radiation."

And then Aeryn lets her hair down and puts on a velvet dress and gets plastered and is sad and angry and hauntingly beautiful for an entire episode and when Stark and Crais come to get her out of the skeezy hotel she's been languishing in she call Crais out on his crush and starts grinding all up on him in the hallway just to freak him out and then screams at them both until they leave. Like. Help me.

I actually went back and listened to Claudia Black's commentary on The Choice because it was such a good character piece and she had a lot of interesting things to say about the process of filming it and insights into Aeryn's character in general.

Oh and hallucinates Crichton all the time because drunk.

And then PUTS THE SOLDIER'S UNIFORM BACK ON AND GETS THE FUCK ON WITH HER LIFE because that's all she knows how to do like can I die yet please!

And then when they get back to Moya and she sees the other Crichton still alive and happy to see her she just brushes by him like "hello John" and I can't deal with it literally at all.

Oh and I guess other things happened to other characters but let's be real I don't care about them.

Time to get my hands on Season 4 I guess.
