prettycolors

Yes, I colored this. And added some fiyaar. The second disk of Season Two came in the mail today! *danves* Kipin is therefore in a very good mood. I expect there shall be some Terra fanart soon, since the last half of Season Two is her entire story arc, thank you very much. Even though it kills me to watch... she does make a lovely villainess. Muaa.

I used my camera to take a video of me playing mah new song, Solar Winds. It's chuck full of mistakes, but if you still wanna hear it, drop me a comment and I'll email it to you. If you want.

more OYAN snippets

Lookit, two posts in one day! *haz partay*

We were supposed to write a scene that captured the story goal in a single, photographable act. Here's the photograph:

It's Andra holding Alethia, by the way. *glomps Alethia*

And here's the scene (it won't happen this way in the book):

The feathers of Alethia’s wings tickled my cheek as we waited outside the Sanctum. The little winged lion was asleep in my arms, purring with every intake of breath. I was excited and nervous, but did my best to keep from fidgeting in case I woke her. Nath, Kader, Arkady and Flavius stood beside me, waiting.
The towering doors began to swing open with a whisper of well-constructed hinges. My pulse barreled along at a furious tempo. A beam of white light shone from within the Sanctum. I glanced over at Nath to find him grinning at me.
We didn’t move until the doors were open as wide as they would go. Something told us we should wait, so once the massive carved slabs of wood stopped moving, I stepped into the Sanctum, holding Alethia. My friends followed.
Inside, a stately row of columns marched away down a long, vaulted hall. Somewhat faintly, I could hear a babble of voices raised in debate. The light grew brighter as we walked, until I was squinting through my eyelashes. I remembered the brightness from my last visit to the Sanctum. Blinking to get my eyes to adjust, I noticed that Alethia was stirring in my arms, her whiskers twitching as she sniffed the air. I ruffled her ears, swallowing against the nervous knot that was building in my throat.
The sound of voices grew louder until the hall ended and we entered a cavernous space, ringed with dragons and other winged creatures. I saw my friend Auburnium deep in conversation with another dragon, his sorrel scales gleaming in the light of the great chandelier suspended from the ceiling. As we came into the chamber, every creature fell silent, watching. I felt several dozen pairs of eyes glued to the cub I held. Doing my best to stay calm, I took several deep breaths.
Across the circle from Auburnium was the hawk, Kraelie. She was dwarfed by an enormous blue dragon on one side and a Mast-angel on the other. One corner of her beak turned upward in an impish grin. I smiled back and proceeded to the far side of the chamber, where Mirano and Keliar were waiting for me.
Keliar took one look at Alethia, whole and healthy in my arms, and threw her head back in a roar of triumph. Taking up the cry, the dragons tilted their heads towards the high ceiling and roared with her, blowing great jets of flame into the air. The Mast-angels broke into song, weaving their voices over and around and through the assembly.
Fully awake, Alethia gazed about her, taking in everything with wide yellow eyes. Mirano descended from the dais, padding towards us with a measured stride. I watched the muscles ripple under his fur as he moved, marveling at the liquid grace of him. The baubles threaded in his mane and wings glittered like points of sunlight.
“Alethia,” he said, and his voice was pitched so deep that I heard it in my bones. The Council’s jubilations faded into silence. “Come here, daughter.”
I knelt and placed the winged cub on the ground. She turned, gave my hand a lick with her sandpapery tongue, and frisked over to her father. As they touched noses, a tear slid down Mirano’s muzzle and splashed Alethia’s forehead.
“Dad, you’re crying on me,” she said, and scrubbed away the moisture with a paw.
Behind me, Kader laughed. “Good one, kid!”
His laughter was contagious, as always, and an undignified snort escaped through my nose before I let myself laugh properly, nerves long gone. Various sounds of mirth erupted from my friends as well. I laughed loud and long, thankful that Hollie wasn’t there so that I didn’t have to worry about scandalizing her.
The corners of his eyes crinkling, Mirano smiled at us. “Andra, Nath, Arkady, Kader, and Flavius: I will never be able to express the depths of my gratitude.” We stopped laughing and tried to look professional. I know I failed, because I could feel the huge grin that was splitting my face.
“Alethia owes her life to you five,” Mirano continued as his mate bounded down the steps and swept up her daughter in a fierce embrace. He glanced over at them and added, “We are in your debt.”
I had no idea what to say. There were about forty dragons, birds, and Mast-angels staring at me and my friends, and my jitters were returning fast. Thankfully, Nath saved me from having to reply. He stepped forward, laid a hand on my shoulder and said, “We would never have gone out to look for her if Andra hadn’t made us. She’s just too modest to take all the credit.”
Mirano’s laugh rumbled low in his chest, and I wondered whether Nath had actually winked at me, or if I had imagined it.

Likey, no likey? Ha, doesn't matter, because this scene won't actually be in the book. It's just practice. XD

Got a random flash of inspiration for Savvy the other night and am working feverishly on Part Five once again! Woot!

watercolor funtime

So I was procrastinating this morning and remembered that I had unearthed a set of watercolors in the art cabinet downstairs. This happened. I thinks I will call it "Blustery". Don't ask me who the purple-haired dude is, cuz I haz no idear. I was practicing using water to affect color density. Hence all those foggy half-visible trees in the background.

I am determined to learn watercolors! I WILL NOT BE STOPPED!! MUAAAHAHAAAAAA!!!

Writing bits

A snip of a scene I was writing for OYAN class. I didn't end up actually using this though, so you can see it.

Sunlight hit my eyelids.
With an early-morning groan, I threw my arm over my face and tried to go back to sleep. “Hollie, please close the curtains,” I mumbled, my voice slurring into an abnormally low octave.
The cot at the foot of my bed creaked as Hollie, my handmaiden, rolled over on it. “You are awake, Lady Andra.”
“Unfortunately,” I muttered into the crook of my arm.
“You do realize that today is your sister’s birthday, my Lady?”
“Which one?”
Hollie’s cot squeaked again, then her feet pattered around the bed until she was standing somewhere close to my head. “Little Kristani is turning seven today. I would get up if I were you.” Her brisk hands flipped my bedspread back. “Up, up, and salute the sun!”
I sat up, using both fists to rub my eyes. The sunlight streaming in through the open window struck me full in the face. “Ouch, okay, I’m awake! What time is it?”
“Time to get up,” Hollie said, bustling over to my wardrobe. She plunged her arms into it and withdrew a rather hideous green dress. “This ought to do nicely for the celebration, I think.”
Oh no. Not a dress. I made a face, slid out of bed and plunged my head into the washbasin on the nightstand. The cold water slapped me fully awake. I emerged, spluttering, and groped for a cloth. “Please, Hollie, no dresses! Today should be a happy day. Me wearing a dress would not be happy.”
Hollie glanced at me, a look of faint displeasure written on her face, before returning the hateful thing to the wardrobe and selecting an embroidered tunic instead. “Is this acceptable, my Lady?”
Just as she finished speaking, the door to my chamber flew open, banging against the wall. My good friend Arkady filled the doorway with his muscled bulk, looking disconcerted. “Andra, you’ve got to get down to the courtyard, there’s been a – Oh, you’re not dressed –” His face turned quite red.
I snagged the tunic out of Hollie’s hands on my way out the door. “Never mind, what’s happening?”
Arkady followed me, quickly outpacing me with his longer legs. “Flavius’s fallen off his bicorn again, and we think he might have broken something. Nath sent me to find you and ran off to fetch the healer.”
I quickened my steps, thinking that Flavius was always falling off of things. “Well, knowing the healer, he could be five miles off in the forest somewhere, collecting herbs or what have you. We’d better hurry.”

That's not all of it, but while I was writing the next part, I changed my mind about how I wanted to arrange the thing and left in unfinished. So you only get to see this part.

warlock girl

...Yeah. When Magnus mentioned female warlocks in... which book was it... City of Ashes, I believe, it made me think about how we never get to meet one in the series. So I made one up. Yes, yes, I know she's creepy and weird, but hey, Magnus is creepy and weird too. It's probably a warlock thing. Anyway, I named her Bex Moonrider and she haz powerz. Muaa. I like her nose and her wings, but her legs are too short and her arms are too long, methinks. And she has tiny feet, like everyone else I draw. But I am fairly happy with her cloak. I made it look all frayed around the edges.

Those Marks don't mean anything, by the way... they're just there to fill empty space.

Oooh, I finished City of Glass, and the ending was like totally awesome. There was fire and... lots of fire. Yes. I'm telling you, Gylfie, they do get better. Plus the quotes are epic.

Jace: I am a man, and men do not consume pink beverages. Get thee gone, woman, and bring me something brown.

Jace Wayland, Magnus Bane and everything else from the Mortal Instruments trilogy (c) Cassandra Claire
Bex in particular (c) me. Cuz I thought of her. XD

Treasure Planet stuff

Just throwing this stuff out here really quick.

I'm totally obsessed with the Disney movie Treasure Planet right now, so bear with me while I do pointless fanart of it.

This was scribbled down without a reference on the back of a novel writing assignment, so the sails are upside down. Ah well.
Jim Hawkins riding his solar-thingy. That part is such the coolest. Drew this from a screenshot, because Jim is so hard to draw, I'll never be able to get him right without a reference. XD
Go listen to the soundtrack! The Launch, To the Spaceport, 12 Years Later and Silver Leaves are all really good ones. I'm Still Here and Silver Comforts Jim are awesome too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRg-fHEDS1M&feature=channel Have fun!

Marks and wings

Got wings?

I already had the big purple ones and the monarch ones, but the blue ones and the green dragon ones are new. The blue ones, I got at the KC Irish Fest where I volunteered on Friday, and the green ones are from RenFest today. I saw them on some lady while we were walking and fell in instant luv.

Here's a pic of my whole collection: Here's me wearing the green ones (and my earses) from the side:

And from the back:
Aren't they adorable?! They are. And sparkly to boot.

Here's the imitation-Marks I drew all over my brother. It's in blue highlighter because that's what I happened to have in my hand at the time. See, this is what he gets if he sits down at my computer shirtless. I start drawing on him. Fun stuff. Even though I had not the foggiest idea of what I was doing. Biology homework does strange things to my brain.

Everybody go read the Mortal Instruments trilogy! It has action and romance and demon blood and really really hot guys. Far hotter than even the book version of Edward Cullen. No offence to Edward, of course. But Jace is just singularily hot.

Sydney and Arno plus doodle overload

First the real art, then the doodles.

Finally got this to load! Woot! Sidney and his friend Arno (the giant eagle) from my friend's pirate story. We have this joke about Sydney now, cuz after I drew this pic and colored him in, we thought he looked like a cross between Frodo and Faramir from LotR. So now we call him Fromir. *snort cough sporfle* I drew this all by hand, then cleaned up the whiteness in PDN. I heart Arno. He talks funny.

You know what's funny? That same friend is in my OYAN class at school. This is our class mascot: the dreaded Seal of Death. Phear his scary teeth! BWAHAHAA! I have no clue if that's what seals actually look like or what, but it makes me laugh all the same.

Now, down to the story stuff. This is an early concept doodle of Mirano, High Leader of the Draconian Council, complete with trinkets and a rather intrusive geometry diagram.
Beautiful, isn't he. Smirk smirk.
And here we have his daughter, Alethia, future HLotDC. She's the one who gets kidnapped in the story, which means that Andra and the squires have to figure out where she went and how to save her.
Oh yeah, she's devastatingly cute. Rrrrright?
Speaking of Alethia being kidnapped, here's a pic of the one doing the kidnapping. Fable the mysterious magician. He ended up being rather more sinister than I originally thought.
This was so much fun to draw. His eyes, most especially.
And here is mah puppeh. He r confuzd.
He actually does that. It's pretty funny.
But not as funny as this.
BARREL ROLL!
Random signs and symbols and stuff. Some of them are miiiine, some of them are designed my me but were inspired by the Mortal Instruments trilogy. The whole concept of Marks is exceedingly cool.
Twenty points if you can guess which are mine and which are Marks!
I got a haircut, by the way. It feels... short. And swishy.
But I kind of like it. Even though I miss all my hair. It turns out that I had more than ten inches, so we donated to Locks of Love and I got a free haircut. XD
So there was this pic that I won't post all of here cuz it's slighty inappropriate, but I can tell you that Raven's new emotion is doing something that makes Robin go like this:
... and Raven go like this:
... and Kipin die laughing. Poor Raven. I am ever so mean to her. But it is awfully funny to watch.
Chibi Titans make me happeh.
I had another doodle, but I just accidetally deleted it, so you can see it next time.

Epic Brain Fart II in COLOR

'Ello thah. Bet you thought I'd given up on this nightmare, didn'tcha?

Well, I didn't. Surprise! I think it was actually easier to look at in monochrome, but ah well. I had fun coloring it. I love how Drexel came out, and the Fae (her name is Iridescence, by the way). *tackles her* I want her wings. At first, Morwyn's robe was yellow and the collar was green, and she totally looked like a dandelion. Oops. So I tried to fix it. And she still looks like a dandelion, cuz of her awesome kick-booty hair, which was so much fun to draw. I think I'll put that in her bio: "A really old lady with crazy white hair who looks like a dandelion." Yeah.

Who else loves how the Portal came out?! *dies happily* And I guess that was Tenebrae's eye, since his eyebrow is blue.

I've been doodling way more than usual lately because my writing class hath given me inspiration. Yay! Plus I'm reading the Mortal Instruments trilogy and loving it enough to draw all over my brother's back in blue highlighter when bored. Pictures of all that epicness coming soon.

Commander Kip who has a bunch of pics that are ALMOST done and ready to post... but not quite.

more doodles

*dramatic swirl of cape* The Commander is back! More doodly fun.

Tamber's hair came out rather horrid in that other pic I drew of her, so here it is all fixed (or mostly fixed, anyway.)Really short in the back and pretty long in the front. Like mine, but more so.

You might recognize this one.
Yeah, he was in another post, but you could barely see him, so I cut him out and cleaned him up a bit. I heart my Tenebrae. So. Flippin'. CUUUUUTE. Can you handle the cuteness?!
Ha-ha-ha. I love how you're asking me what the deuce this thing is, and I have no idea. I drew this perfectly lovely wolf head and then proceeded to ruin it by attaching a body. Gaak.
Plus the small person started scribbling random Greek helmet thingys around her. *smites small person*

It's Kaa! I love Kaa.
Let-me-show-you-how-it-works... *hypnotizes* Muahahaa!

Ooh, scary pervy super villain oh noes! Poor Raven. Suffice to say that Raven's birthday was not a good day for her. First Slade comes back from the dead, then Raven gets all these weird red markings all over her, then Slade practically rips her clothes off (most of them, anyway), and then she falls off a building... poor kid.
But it all turns out okay cuz Robin catches her at the end!! *loud obnoxious fangirl squeeing* D'aaaaw! Ahem-hem. Anyway, I was watching the episode 'Birthmark' and drew this from a screenshot. Slade is such a pervy super-villain. Seriously, everthing he says can be interpreted as inappropriate. I laugh my head off every time he talks.
I promise I'll post some real art next time!
