a lot of Mass Effect art I didn't realize I was behind on

Some Sheps for friends as a thank-you for help with a project.

The ME:Andromeda protagonist, Ryder!

Some Talis.

Some Kaidans (and a Sheploo).

Some Garruses (and a Rain Shepard, and a Sidonis cuz they were banging let's not lie to ourselves).

Some Jacks and Mirandas.

Colored this Rain piece for N7 day this year.

And a Cale Shepard. Shirtless. Because.

I've been neglecting this blog for long stretches of time and it's making it hard to catch up. I'll try to stay more on top of things in the future.

Shadowrun!

It's happening, we're doing it, and I'm playing a human decker called Ember! They're 15 and they grew up in an ork street gang in Seattle called the Bloody Screamers. I'm very excited to play them.

This piece wasn't supposed to get so involved and I didn't do a single lick of work on my senior project last week because of it but new babies demand attention, you know how it is.

Pose reference from here.

There will be more about this kid because I love them already and can't keep my pen away from them. But for now, back to work.

OH AND THE GHOSTBUSTERS REBOOT WAS AMAZING HOLY SHIT it was many times better than the original I'm just saying.

revenge of the Star Wars rp

It's happening! I'm playing Leth again, with all the emotional nuance I wish I couldn't played her with the first time. We're doing between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, when Leth was in her late twenties and still kickin' it at the Temple. The Kiffar chick she's smooching is Tariq Tl'tak, Giddy's Sith defector, and the cute tiny Togruta is also Giddy's. The very short Iktotchi is Leth's former Master, Reshi Taas. You'll for sure be hearing more about them later. I literally can't stop drawing these nerds.

This is just a teaser taster, more to come soon!

In other news, I was struck with a very untimely illness during move-out and commencement but we're almost settled into the apartment now and I'm doing much better. My summer job in the bookstore started today and that's shaping up to be just fine, so things aren't bad, although I will be quite glad when we get internet installed in our place.

Also I finished Shadowhunters. And cried.

I know it's late for Star Wars Day but

let's be real, every day of my life is Star Wars Day. Happy May the Fourth/Revenge of the Fifth everybody, let's celebrate with some of the smol gay son.

And the space princess of course.

I have a ton, like seriously a ton of doodles from this semester, hardly any of which I've had time to take pictures of. But there will be lots, as soon as finals are over and we're moved into our apartment yay!

I'm in Outlander hell

We watched the entire first season over the last week of Interim and the first few days of break. So good. The last two episodes were really difficult to watch, but it was all very well done and also Jamie is hot, so I spent the rest of break painting a portrait of him, one of the most realistic I'd attempted in a while. Blending those darker shadows was hard, but rewarding in the end.

The initial linework.

Anyways that's what we've been up to around here. I'm starting my senior project as well - an interactive visual novel for which I write the script, draw all the art, and compose and record the score. The only thing I'm not doing on my own from scratch is the programming, which Matt is helping me with because he's the best (and because it gives him an excuse to learn Java). Will update on that stuff as it develops.

hark, a new dnd character

for Evan's campaign this semester! We've only played one session so far, but I love Evan's DMing and it's a super fun group. I flipped through the 5e manual and decided to build a Tiefling paladin, which seems like a complete oxymoron but isn't really because as a paladin you can totally take an oath of vengeance instead of pledging yourself to a deity or an ideal. Rockin. So here's Shalai, thief, hermit, paladin.

As a youth he was in a thieving crew with a few close friends and his younger brother. The crew was caught stealing cargo from one of the ships of a very wealthy and powerful merchant, who had the rest of the crew killed before Shalai's eyes before sending him into exile. As her guards threw him out of the city, he spat an oath of vengeance at her. The next thirty years were spent training in the mountains alone, beating up trees and angsting as one does. Then the Terraclysm ripped the continent in half and he looked out of his cave one morning at a sheer cliff dropping straight down to an ocean that hadn't been there the day before. That decided it for him - it was time to go back to the port city of his birth, find the merchant, and kill her. At the start of our campaign, he's been hiding in the city for several months, doing reconnaisance, sheltering one of the other party members who's being pursued by mysterious shadow creatures. By the end of that first session, Shalai had his hiding place compromised by the rest of the (young and stupid) party, jumped headlong through an interdimensional portal, demanded information from an ancient and powerful being, confronted the literal lion-monster the merchant turned out to be, fought a chain demon shackled to the long-dead corpse of his younger brother, beheaded that corpse, and held it in his arms as it crumbled to dust. Y'know, the standard first session of a campaign type things.

So that's Shalai. Stay tuned for more of his adventures.

Also me and Matt played Undertale and I have Feelings about it.

the new space baes

I started this over the winter break but I woke up this morning sick enough to skip class and decided to finally finish it.

Aaaah the movie was so fun and the new trio is so cute! Also I just love the fact that everyone's talking about Star Wars nonstop, like it's suddenly this universal conversation topic and everyone's got theories and opinions and there's this huge resurgence of excitement about this fantastic, ridiculous, crazy universe I love and care about so much and it's really just the best. I can walk into any room, get on any public transport, strike up a discussion in any elevator, and Star Wars will invariably come up. We've all been revealed as the huuuge nerrrds we truly are and I love it.

got an A in my studio art class

Here are some of the pieces I used for my portfolio.

The Cellar in Winter

The Haunting

Warm Neutral Cool

Briar

The Bone

Never Die When I'm Dead

Not to Be

If You Wait

All Soul's Night

 Breast

Leaving Earth

There are more pieces I was proud of, but I didn't get around to taking pictures of all of them. Anyway, it was a good class in that I turned out a lot of solid pieces, though I didn't really learn too much that I didn't already know. Which is fair, since it was supposed to be a foundations course.

I have so much more art to post! If I don't just sleep straight through the rest of this break, I'll do it.

been awhile

since I posted any MSG, hasn't it. Well, here.

Recently I was trying out a wardrobe redesign for Suvoi, since we're rolling with the "sandpunk" thing now. I imagine the Peregrine would wear loose, billowy clothing that they could easily batten down at the ankles, wrists and neck during sandstorms. What Suvoi's got on here would be more like oasis wear, or half-dressed in her tent - bare arms and feet, loose hairstyle, not something you'd go out in.

Here's a scene Giddy and I sort of skirted around but never wrote. Erik's handler, the brutish Ruska, takes his whip to the "stupid boy" one too many times for little Suvoi to handle.

Aaaand look at where that got her. But honestly, I'm glad I finally finished this one up. It was haunting me.

I've actually been drawing a ton, but it's all just little doodles in my class notes. Will probably post a whole bunch after finals are done this week. Speaking of which, omg kill me.

ALSO STAR WARS COMES OUT TOMORROW AAAAAAAH

happy N7 day!

There's a new Andromeda trailer out and I'm bawling! Surprise!

Here, have a Rain Shepard alone at the bar because it's Time To Be Sad!

Oh all the comrades that e'er I've had
Are sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I've had
Would wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call
Good night and joy be with you all

~ The Parting Glass, the Wailin' Jennys

Have also some dirty MShenko smut that someone on Tumblr requested (ref)!

And have it in pink!

Okay. Deep breaths. I'm okay now. Probably.
