Kipin avatar

Guten morgen, ladies. Kipin has something to show you. Lookie:

Isn't she CUTE? This is my new Kipin avatar. I decided I needed one, to give me something to draw in the margins of my homework besides Hattie (not that I dont' love Hattie, of course, and I still draw her frequently, but...) So, she's there to express my feelings on a given subject. I really like the one of her holding the steering wheel and saying, "Careful, everybody, Kipin's driving!" That's totally gonna be me when I get my permit.
I have a bunch more of these, so expect to see a few every now and then.

Kartik for Lady Arin

Happy slightly late birthday, Lady Arin!

This is Kartik, from Libba Bray's book, A Great and Terrible Beauty. Lady Arin is somewhat obsessed with him, so here he is in all his hawtness - at least, as much of it as Kipin could convey, anyway.

The graphite pencil lineart: Black colored pencil lineart:
Prismacolored (added doorknob):

In the frame. Fitting, no?

This was such a fun project. I think I've finally stumbled across a method of drawing torsos that doesn't make the guy look like an overdeveloped monstrosity. *hugs poor botched Thaelen* Yes, I'll have to go back and redo that at some point. Poor guy.
I suppose I could have used a darker color for the backround. It looks a bit too... stripey, somehow. And the doorknob still bugs me, rawr... should have sketched it in earlier. It looks like it's floating. *gnashes teeth* And his hair! I swear, I erased it and redrew it like ten times. I need to learn hair. I know I keep saying that, but seriously. Mom's actually considering getting me a private lesson. It's that bad.
One last thing. The reason I say the frame is fitting is because Kartik spends most of the three books in the trilogy skulking about in the woods behind the all-girl's academy, watching Gemma. Pfft. What a stalker. But he's a HAWT stalker, so no one's complaining, right? Anyway, that's why the leafy frame jumped out at me in the store.

Whisperwood wolves

...And that was so much fun, let's have another.

These guys are some newly invented additions to Portals... the Whisperwood wolf pack, or as much of it as Kipin could fit on the page, anyway. Top left: Byrony, top right: Esker, bottom left: Fiachra, bottom right: Lucien. Technically, Lucien would be the Alpha dominant male person, but in this case, his mate Fiachra leads the pack, because Kipin says so. In Zraeland, female wolves have a higher status than the males. Lol, so there.

Kipin barely planned out this drawing, which is why none of them are shown to scale, and O'Darrell is missing, because he wouldn't fit. Had all sorts of trouble with Byrony's pose, but I think I got it worked out in the end. Esker gave me fits as well - her forepaws were refusing to reach the ground. Eventually, I figured out that she was tipped too far back, and tried to erase her head, which stubbornly refused to disappear. *smites cruddy sketchbook paper* I miss my old sketchbook... Anyway, that's why it looks like there's a half-invisible ghost wolf sitting behing Esker, which was unplanned and unwanted, so please ignore it. Also, since I'm doing my little artist-criticizing-her-own-artwork thing here, I shall say that Lucien looks like a bulldog. Mi madre is in full agreement with me on this point.

Believe it or not, we actually do not have any books on wolves. *snarls* So I had flip through a bunch of different nature/animal kindom reference guides to find suitable pictures. There were hardly any, hence the problems I had with Esker... that was a case where I just needed a reference, and couldn't find one to save my life. Gaah! I ended up looking at some of the posters in my room that have wolves in them for inspiration, because prior to this project, I had no idea how to draw wolves. Now I have at least a general idea of how they're put together. Another big inspirational help was Hanyousblood's DevART gallery, which you should all go look at, and drool over her amazingness. I think I gave a link for it in my list of recommended links... *dashes off to check*

Graphite mechanical pencil and kneaded eraser, because I knew I had one somewhere, and I was right.

The parts I like: Byrony's tail, Fiachra's expression, Lucien's paws, and Esker's pose. Thank you, thank you, no applause, just throw money!

Can you just imagine what will happen when Ellian and her new friends run into these guys in the woods? For Ellian... major freak out time, I presume. But Kaelo can talk to animals, the lucky rotter, and the wolves can talk as well, so no worries.

Happy early birthday present, Lady Arin, because I know you like wolves.

the Raven collection

Hey everybody, you won't believe this...

KIPIN FINALLY FINISHED CHAPTER 4 OF PORTALS!!! *dies in relief* That took forevah!

Anyhoo, just thought I'd get that out there.

This is Raven, from Teen Titans.

I am most especially fond of the big colored headshot in the bottom left corner. That was a screenshot from one of the early episodes... the one with the Puppet King... doormat, what was it called? Don't remember, but that's beside the point. I was watching the episode on YouTube and saw that awesome shot, so I paused it and sketched it down. Later, I colored it. The pencil sketch in the top left corner came about the same way. That screenshot was from the episode Spellbound, where she falls in love with an evil dragon who's pretending to be a wizard, lol, lol, that was a cool one. She's about to throw something at Cyborg, a stankball maybe, and I loved the expression on her face. I don't think I captured it quite right... you'd have to see it, gaah, that cracked me up. The one in the top right corner was done first, and I drew it looking at the Volume 1 dvd cover. She actually looks better far away than she does up close there, because of how many times I had to erase her eyes. The paper got all scarred. It looks fine from here though.

In case you can't read the text (it's fairly tiny there), it says, 'I speak English, German, Latin, Romanian, Ancient Sumerian and Sanskrit. Do you have anything I can read?' *dies laughing* Gaah. Best Raven quote evah. From the extended feature thing, Trouble in Tokyo, the ending of which irked me to pieces. *grumblesnarlhiss* I am a RobRae shipper. The ending was decidedly RobStar. 'Nuff said.

Or maybe not. Kipin likes to rant. So - SHE'S TOO HAPPY FOR HIM! IT WOULD NEVER WORK! BESIDES, SHE'S AN ALIEN! Not that we don't all love Starfire, and she does kick serious butt. Howevah! She's simply too bubbly and carefree for Robin. He's from Gotham, raised by Batman. He's seen plenty of things that no teenager should have to see, whereas Starfire is about as naive as it gets. She thinks mustard is a beverage to be drunken through a straw. Besides, Robin and Raven had some valid, convincing moments in the End of the World story arc, and they ah so flippin' cute togethah.

Graphite mechanical pencil, then Prismacolor pencils. Nothing new here. And the disclaimer: Teen Titans is a registered trademark of somebody-or-other, who isn't me. So yeah. Don't own nuthin'. Unfortunately. If I did, the show would still be running and thousands of heartbroken fans would be... un-heartbroken.

Commander Kip who is awfully happy with how Lady Arin's birthday present came out! *squees to self*

"For the hundredth time..."

Hay there, dudes... Kipin's already posted today (like five minutes ago, in fact) but she couldn't wait to show you guys this drawing. So you get a double dose of CreativityIncarnate today.
I know, I know, the poses are epic fail. (The girl is Terra and the dude is Beast Boy, from Teen Titans. This is a scene from my fanfic, Prisoner of Love.) Kipin messed up the composition badly. Terra looks like she's about to tip over backward, because of the strange angle of her right leg, and the whole pose looks off. Not sure why. Perhaps Kipin tried to add too much detail? No big surprise there...

The best part of this pic is that Kipin finally brought herself to draw a BACKGROUND! *freaks out* Amazing, isn't it? Obviously, a five-year-old could have done just as well, but I'm happy all the same. Usually, Kipin's too lazy to do backgrounds.

The exerpt that goes with this piece is... still in my notebook. I'm only up to Chapter Five when it comes to the typing for this particular fanfic, and the part I chose to draw happens in Chapter Six or Seven, can't remember which just now. Basically, Terra was by herself in the Tower with Raven, and Slade ambushed them and kidnapped Raven. Terra was knocked senseless in the ambush and woke up like an hour later to find Raven gone. So she was totally freaking out, and saying that it was all her fault that Raven was missing, and here Beast Boy is trying to convince her otherwise. "For the hundredth time, Terra... it's not your fault!" She doesn't believe him of course. But anyway, I was gonna wait to post this drawing until I got the matching exerpt on the computer, but I got impatient, which seems to happen often.

Commander Kip the just had a great idea!

Sisters

Hi people! Kipin's on a huge drawing kick right now. See here:
The first picture ever of Saabra ferch Diarbed, also (and more often than Kyren) known as Princess Llaelora. Funny thing - when I was drawing this at Taekwondo, I had no idea what clothes to put her in, because of that dress-hating crouch she's doing, lol. So she's not wearing the Llaelora gown, even though that was what I was planning to put her in. I didn't know what she should wear, so I drew a little chibi version of her in the corner of the page and put clothes on it. It turned out so cute, I couldn't bring myself to erase it. So it's still there. I know it looks weird to have two of the same person in the same picture, but I just couldn't erase her! And her hair was royally botched (Kipin REALLY needs to learn hair) but I am fairly happy with the foreshortening of her arm, and her right wrist and hand. One of the few times I've drawn a hand and liked it.
This one's Kyren, obviously. With a rather large FI-YAAHball. *giggles uncontrollably* That is way too much fun to say. FI-YAAH!!! Sorry. Anyway, this picture looked cooler in my head than it did on paper, but I have only my lack of skill to blame for that. I tried a different style of eye for this one, but they came out looking funky, like she was blind or something. Not using that eye design again. I doubt I'll get up the nerve to color either of these, though I've considered it multiple times... but no, I'm too lazy. Also, Kyren's fireball-holding hand is messed up. It looks too... blobby. XD

WEAPONS!

Hee, look.
WEAPONS!
Sorry, just had to yell that. Everybody remember the third PotC movie? When Sao Feng is all like, "WEAPONS!" and the pirates all pull swords out of the bathtubs? That was so funneh.
Anyhow, here's the happy post I promised, barely five minutes after the other one. These sharp pointy objects are a collection of weapons from Portals. Weapons make Kipin happy, okay? The big one (which has been compared with Cloud's sword from Final Fantasy on several occasions) belongs to Science, not that Science can lift it, lol. He's far too skinny. I had waaay too much fun doing all the technologically baffling designs on the blade, but they took forever to clean up. Next is my personal favorite, Saabra's bladed boomerang. It's the double-sided curvy one in the middle of the page. I invented it myself. *preens proudly* And I think it's my favorite weapon in the entire book. So far. In the left bottom corner is the Floramancer's leaf-blade, which is Thea's. I royally botched the edges, in case you can't tell, but i like how the handle came out. Then there's one of Kaelo's many throwing daggers. This particular one has a long handle, which comes in handy for non-lethal attacks. You know, in Chapter Two, when he throws a dagger and knocks Rykker out without killing him... that would have been this dagger. In the right corner is some sort of flail thing. I was gonna give it to Thaelen, but Mom said a flail was too messy for him. She said he needed a cleaner weapon. So the flail is just there to look cool until I decide who gets it (Queen Diarbed, perhaps? She's ruthless enough for it, lol.) And last but not least, guess what Thaelen ended up with? Twin long knives! Yay, they fit him perfectly! I wanna do a pic soon of him holding them and looking all scary and cool. This time, I'll put him in his cloak so I don't have to do his muscles, or his hair. Gaah, I MUST learn hair. Soon. Or I will die of artistic Thaelen-induced hair deprivation. I'm getting tired now. Must be, because that last bit made no sense... So anyway, the swirls on the handles were my friend DarkChild's idea. She said they needed some kind of cool design on them because they were too boring. I completely agreed with her, and lo and behold - vast improvement. Thank you once again, DarkChild, for inspiring me.
Must go sleep before any other sillinesses spew out of my melted brain...

Lookit this mangled mess.

Gaah, look at all those horrid gouges! *hides face in horrah* Just look at it! I swear, I didn't see him do it, but it looks like the face and my dog got in a fight and the dog won. I came upstairs and there were bits of my school art project strewn all over the landing, and the plastic wrapping it was in was all shredded up. AND THERE WERE A BUNCH OF NASTY GOUGES IN MY MASK! *fumes for a minute* *takes deep breath* Hhh - whoo. Hhh - whoo. That makes me SO mad. Anyway, I had to spend an entire evening repairing it, and it was due the next day. I was supposed to have it DONE, and it wasn't any further along than it was when I took it home, because, as I explained to my wonderful understanding art teacher, my dog LITERALLY ate my homework. Or tried to dig in it, anyway. *growls at Marco* Bad dog. Bad! Bad! *swats*

Sketchdump

Good Day, everybody, and guess what?

Kipin remembered how much fun blogging is!!! *capers about madly* So prepare yourselves for a mess of sketches.
This one's a couch I saw in Starbucks. I was really, really bored...
And this is our weighted keyboard that makes all the pretty harp-like noises, without the stand it sits on, because I was too lazy to draw that part.
My hand (at a time when I had fingernails.)

My fist, drawn on the same day as the hand.
Some different claws, lol. In the top corner of the Epic Brain Fart, I drew a very nice owl claw, which inspired me to draw more. So there's a couple owl claws in there, and some Drog claws, and Wyrm's hand (Wyvern's is the one on the other side of the body) and my own hand, with extra-long nails, bwahahaa.

Groundcover from our back yard. (Is back yard supposed to be one word?)

A tulip, also from the backyard. (Yes, I think it is one word.)

There you go for now, but since I'm on such a roll, I might post again later today. If I have time. Sorry this post is so booooring, but these sketches are never gonna get posted unless I just dump them on you guys all at once, lol.

Epic Brain Fart

Dash it all, why can't the pictures show up in the correct order?! *bites computer*

Hi, everybody. *sheepish grin* Excuse me whilst I smite this uncooperative machine. Anyway, I profusely apologize! Kipin has not so much as touched her blog since the end of February, which is, of course, unacceptable. There were piles of homework to contend with, and a stupid mutant cold/flu thing, and all sorts of rot... but Kipin's back now, with a vengeance, bwahahaaa.
So, this is the second-to-LAST page in my sketchbook *dies* which means Kipin has to start a new one! Augh, the horrah! But the method behind the madness here is that I wanted to draw something meaningful and cool and complicated on the last page, so in order to purge my mind of silliness first, I filled the second-to-last page with any- and everything that came to mind over a two-day period. Hence, the Epic Brain Fart, which started out in black and white (see below, blast this format!) and just screamed to be colored, which Kipin did, without any ado.

Yes, this was actually a lot of fun. I had just recently watched the LotR trilogy, so there are several related objects in there (Eye of Sauron, elven brooch, Evenstar pendant, the One Ring, etc.) Other scribbles of note: the Sordid Sea'orse, in the top right corner (Captain Calamity's ship), Lackadaisy, the grinning kitty in overalls there (who I did not come up with, by the way... saw another drawing like him on DevART and loved him to pieces), several drawings of Hattie, in assorted colors, a rather large hand, Saabra's mind-blowingly awesome weapon (middle of the left edge, right next to the Evenstar pendant), a rather nice set of claws on the right edge, and a large-scale representation of my new signature near the bottom. Whew. *pants, tongue hanging out of mouth* So yeah. Feast your eyes on the epic randomosity of it all!

Happy Belated Valentine's Day!

Hey everybody, happy belated Singles Awareness Day! (I got that from our NEW READER YAY!!! Hey girl.)

Mm-kay. I had no idea what label to put these under, since I never draw in marker, but anyway, there's the 2009 Valentine-a-la-Kipin for you. (Gaah, stupid format!) For the record, the design is actually not mine; if you go to Cafepress and look at all the funny Twilight buttons, you might see that heart symbol thing on some of them, along with the words "la tua cantante" or however you spell it. So yeah, it's copyright of whoever thought it up (not me.)

And this one has a story to it, lol. I was up really late the night before the Valentine party at school, and I was too wide-awake to sleep, so I was putting my energy to creative use and getting all my valentines done (yes, I more or less mass-produced my own this year.) So I got 'em done, and still wasn't tired, and I had an extra sheet of paper sitting on my desk, so I turned it into an Epic Valentine for a few of the guys at school. Really, it was less of a Valentine and more of an April Fool's prank, but I was laughing so hard when I wrote it, omg... gaah, it was so funny! The picture there is the front, and now I am wishing that I had taken one of the inside too, but I didn't, so I hope I can remember what it said. The front just said 'to the boys, from the girls', and then you open it up and there's a list of the boys that it's to, and under that, a list of instructions, and under that, an envelope. The instructions were something like, "Before you run away screaming, read the following: One, do not run away screaming. Two, read all the rules before you open the envelope. Three, do not give me that look, or I will smite you. Yes, that look, the one that says 'what the heck' all over it. Do not give it to me. Do not. I do not want it." Under that, it said "Okay, open the envelope! Do it now! *evil cackle*". Then, on the outside of the envelope, there was a notice that said "read everything before you open the envelope", etc. etc. THEN (and this is the best part) inside the envelope was one piece of chocolate and a notecard that said, "As you may have noticed, there is only ONE piece of chocolate in here, which means... you have to FIGHT over it! MUAHAHAHAAA!!!" Oh. Em. Jee. It was SO FUNNY! They did fight over it too, except it wasn't a very long fight, because one guy saw the chocolate and immediately snatched it out, so by the time they had read the notecard, he knew to run away, but there was a brief smackfight first, yay! And my school friends said I was a genius. So there you have it. Epic Valentine. Lol.

The IUW: The End/Beginning

Good Day to you, my dear fellows and fellowesses! Yes, it's a word, for I declare it so!
We just finished the first epic chapter of the Chronicals of the Great and Wonderful IUW, and there was much awesome epicness all the way 'round, so since Titi isn't in there anymuir, I wanted you guys to see her before she retired. Go to the Picnic Club link and read everything in the IUW thread. Warning: EPICNESS ABOUNDS!!! BWAHAHAAA!!! Ahem. This is Wyrm and Wyvern, my didrake, or two-headed dragon. Ain't 'e preshus? Those are just his heads, not the rest of his body, the one on the left is Wyvern, and the other one, the one that looks like it's about to bite someone's head off, that one's Wyrm. He's the hothead of the two. The other things on the page are their legs, BTW. This guy is the Guardian of the Cave of Spontaneously Combustible Materials (or CoSCM, for short.) They can break the Rules and leave though... they have to hunt, after all. I mean, HE has to hunt. Blast it all! I always forget about the singular!

Hmm. Doesn't work too well not to have a layout. This pic here is Titaniara, my li'l Disney-ripoff fairy. Her ears are wonky. My favorite little coffeetarian. Catchphrase: 'COFFEEEEEEEEEE...'

And these are Lloyd Harvey the Troll (also known as LHtT) and Super Power Ninja Gerbil Alpha (also known as SPNGA, or Spenga.) LHtT is the Lair Guardian, which means he can't leave the Lair, and the SPNGs are Roving Guardians, which means they can go wherever but default to the Playground. L-O-Flippin'-L. They crack me up, the Ninja Gerbils do.
Okay, so now we've started Chapter Two, and already we have a problem. I think my character Flavius has fallen in love with Anne of Green Gables... and they're not even in the same story! Oops. Lol. And there's this massive tree called Elayssiabraumunorulagrum (otherwise known as Elayssia, or just Ely) that's sucking the life out of the South, which is now the Bleached Lands. Bwahahaa, phear her. So we have to get rid of her now. Somehow.

Magick Ink

Oh, the horrah! *dies* Kipin hasn't posted since January 29!!! That's more than a week ago! Sorry, everybody!
Okay, this pic really has nothing to do with anything, but I had it sitting in my art file, so here you go. I drew it a long time ago, but it's acceptable, due to the fact that there are no people in it, and I am rather fond of it still. The words in the background are just short paragraphs from books, designed to make the pic look cool. I had just drawn the magic ink and the quill to begin with, but they looked rather boring there in the middle of the page all by themselves, so I added a 'background' to liven things up a bit. And yes, I realize that I spelled 'Magic' incorrectly in the pic, and I assure you, it was deliberate. *laughs* Everybody go watch the LOtR movies if you want to get the joke. I just saw them last weekend and they were amazing!
So sorry, I've been busy and under the weather and working on two new fanfics, so please excuse the lack of Savvy lately. I swear I'll write Part 5 soon!

Muches of Random Stuffs

Hai thare, guys! Kipin has lotsa drawings she could show you, but since it's Wednesday morning and she's already posted today, you get a newsflash or two instead.

Interesting bit of news the first: KIPIN HAS HER OWN COMPUTER!!! GAAAAAAAAH!!! *incoherent sounds of glee* My gosh, Kipin's been wanting her own computer ever since the other one got all virusy and infected and slow and error messages every other second. *bites* Rawr! But then I bought my daddy's old one from him at a discount price, and it's so speeedy! *loud obnoxious squeeing commences* So anyway, that's good.

Interesting bit of news the next: Umm... umm... dash it all, I had one a second ago! What was it again... hmm... maybe if I sit here and type whatever comes into my head for a few minutes I'll remember... *wracks brain* Grr, what WAS it? Gaah, I hate it when that happens! I had so many things to tell y'all and - OH YEAH! That's it: I finally wrote more of my Teen Titans fanfic, after letting it fester away in a corner for like six months. I had a flash of inspiration the other day and wrote like five pages in my notebook, then finished typing Chapter Four and started Chapter Five. It's very funny - you know how Raven can talk to her emotions and go visit them in Nevermore and everything? Well, just to torture her uneccesarily, I had her meet her own Lust, poor girl. She was so embarrassed... It was funny though, so I forgive myself! The next part, however, will not be so funny because she gets captured by Slade and he takes her to the Joker and then Robin has to come rescue her... d'awww... *goes all gooey just thinking about it* So sweet. Aww. That's Kipin the Nearly Hopeless Romantic for you. *girlish giggle*

Interesting factoid: Our beautiful, climb-able, hacked-up maple tree in the backyard has a name! Thalassaneldrisorca, pronounced 'thal-LA-sa-nell-dris-SORE-kah' or something. I dunno. But I think I'll just call her Thalassa most of the time, to save on brain cells.

Another factoid: My mommy got me one of those li'l wooden artist's mannikins, which is cool because my perspective skills are practically nonexistent, and besides, she looks cool on my desk. I named her Rhonda, for the heck of it. Now I wanna go back to the art store and get the hand mannikin, which is just a wooden hand with lotsa joints. I need it even more that Rhonda, if that's possible... you all know how bad Kipin is at drawing handses, yess precious, very bad indeed.

Gwilan's Angel

Hey there, hi there, ho there... and welcome to Kipin's crazee life. *maniacal cackle*
This is Edana (not Elatha; sorry for any confusion) Forrest, Gwilan's younger sister. *points*
She was slain by Brennan ab Toralt in one of his frequent fits of rage and is now the cutest li'l angel ever. When she feels like it, she follows her big brother around and gives him pointers on life. The first time Ellian sees her, she understandably freaks out... but I actually haven't written that part yet, or I would post it, lol.
Here's Edana's bio:
Edana Forrest (deceased) – Gwilan’s younger sister, RACE/SPECIES: Irlican-Zraelish, AGE: eight aurons, GENDER: female, BUILD: slighter than the rest in her family, very small feet, fluffy little wings (after death), SKIN TONE: rosy, HAIR: short, crinkly and flame-red, EYES: green-hazel, VOICE: chirping, CLOTHING: brown boy’s tunic and russet leggings, went barefoot most of the time, COD: Brennan, careless slaying
The wings came out gudd, the feathers were drawn in mechanical pencil first, then outlined in ice-blue Prismacolor, then highlighted in pale turquoise Prismacolor. Unfortunately, you can't tell that at all from the cruddy pic. *sighs loudly* Ah well... such are the woes of scannerlessness. *wretched sob* But they look pretty in real life. The arms and legs... not so much. Kipin was bad and she drew the tunic before the legs, hence the strange angle they are sticking out at, and how short they are. The arms are an acceptible length, but the hands - gaah! - are atrocious. Just look at the wings, they're the best part. XD Hmm, why don't we have smileys on Blogger?! I miss 'em from the Picnic Club site, we use 'em all the time over thare.
Almost done with Chapter Four!!! Squee!!! *falls over in relief*

G'ranna

Figured it was about time for another dragon. :D Good Day, by the way, and happy sixty-degree weather to y'all. This rather horsey-lookin' creature is G'ranna, my seeing dragon, who used to be in my room in a box-frame but is now adorning our fireplace mantel downstairs, along with another family favorite, Willie the Strong Guy. The Sculpey I used to make G'ranna had a bunch of fine glitter mixed in, hence the shiny effect. And the reason she has the bowl of icefire and the funnee ears is because she is a very compassionate dragon and she can influence my dreams on occasion (say, if I'm having a nightmare or something. Very helpful.) Apparently, all listening dragons have big funny ears, but I kinda think they made her look like a horse, oops. Ah well. Isn't she a pretty color?

Made a LONG time ago (right after Char and before Guppy, I think) with sparkly Sculpey and lotsa love. I hadn't yet discovered the wire mesh until recently, so there's no framework in this one.

Gaah, phear the cuteness! I actually like how this turned out, thanks to Amzi, who gave me the idea for the runic border.

Okay, some clarification: First of all, I invented those runes all by my own self. The spirally squiggle means water, the one next to that with the two pieces coming off means fire, the next one that looks like some kinda messed up keyhole is earth, and the last one with the dot in the middle stands for air. Ha! *preens self* I did in fact mean for the border to run off the page on both sides, and I do apologize for the odd shadow at the bottom, but I blame my camera for that. *needs scanner badly* The thingy floating about Kaelo's mangled hand is supposed to be a fireball, but it ran into the border and you can't really tell. Oh yeah, Kaelo's the one on the left, and the other shorter one is Gwilan. And yes, they have very small feet. Why? Because that's the only kind I know how to draw, lol. Gwilan's hair, for the record, was a royal pain, and even though you can't see it in the pic, I love how Kaelo's ear came out. Nice and pointy, squee! Also, the reason his right hand is so very mangled is because I couldn't figure out how to draw it, so I was using my friend Hannaliese's hand as a model during lunch at school one day, which was pretty funny to watch... she was eating a sandwich with one hand and holding out the other one while I frantically scribbled it down and attached it to Kaelo. Our friends were sitting there laughing their heads off, which didn't make it any easier to draw steadily... Ah well. Best I could do under the circumstances.

Untitled charries

Good Day and happy SNOW to you all!
Okay, let me explain... These two pages of randomosity are stuff from the story collab my friend and I started writing. The skinny guy with the short curly hair and the messed-up collar is Jereth, my wizard, and the potbellied guy next to him is Beylon, the Irish fisherman my mommy invented. (She also invented another Irish bad guy named Yarlow, but he's on another page.) On the next sheet, the one crowded with a bunch of arbitrary scribblings, is Lawrence, the guy with glasses and a backpack; a couple of anime eyes my friend drew; Pussywillow, the dustbunny from Cricket magazine; another dustbunny, an evil one with squinty eyes and pointy teeth; Kress, the wild-haired selkie in the interesting dress (she's my favorite little spitfire in distress, yuss she is, I luvz her dearly); one of Kress's hands, note the webbed fingers; her selkie pelt, shaped like a rather limp seal; and a VERY GOOD drawing of HATTIE! Gaah, perfect capture! I drew the body and my friend did the eyes. The first one always comes out the best... we've never been able to draw her that well since. Gaah, she's so cuuuuute! *falls over*
Hmm... I might post again today, since I just used my pretty new purple camera (squee!) to take pics of more of my drawings, and they're all just sitting in my docs file right now, waiting to be revealed! The Kaelo and Gwilan pic is done, and has been named 'Bring On the Bad Guys', which made mi padre laugh.
See you soon!

Dragon Nativity

Dooy Gad... I mean, Good Day, or good evening, or lo que sea... too busy to care...
Kipin is off to her biannual choir lock-in tomorrow, which means... packing. And everybody knows how bad Kipin is when it comes to packing. Right, Lady Arin? *sheepish grin* Kipin has to pack her entire closet and most of her books and almost everything in her room and pretend she's moving in for a week. Right? So that's going on right now. At least it should be. Instead, Kipin is sitting on her lazy duff in front of her computer, too lackadaisical to move. (We did contact sparring in taekwondo class earlier this evening. Explains everything, doesn't it, preciousss?)
Oh yeah, the pics. These liddle beauties were my madre's Christmas present - a Nativity made out of dragons. Smart, huh? 'Twas me padre's idea, and a good one too. The red one with the shepard's stick - what's it called? - o ya, a crook, is Joseph, the blue one with the big brown eyes is Mary, and the mini white one coming out of the eggshell is the widdle babee Jesus. D'aww! Ain' 'e a sweet'eart? I luvz his cute liddle face. Notice the family pic: Mary is taller than Joseph. Why? Because Kipin was too lazy to go get Joseph, who was already done, as a size ref. So we have an exceptionally big-boned Mary. I can explain! Female dragons, I have decided, are generally bigger than the males. It could happen, y'know! *defensive pout* Most female spiders are bigger than male spiders, right? So there, I rest my case.
Gotta go pack! *dashes off in a mad rush

What Kipin Used to Draw Like (Holly)

Good Day, everybody... hmm, why do I always say 'everybody' when only one or two people are allowed to read my blog??? Ah, such are the questions that plague me.
Yes, Kipin used to draw like that... gaah, spare me! *covers eyes* This is Kipin's oold ooold rendition of Captain Holly Short, from the Artemis Fowl series. Gaah, the face! Can you believe Kipin used to draw faces like that?! *goes into storytelling mode* Once upon a time, before Kipin learned her anatomy, she had a sudden all-consuming urge to draw that most noble of elf policewomen, Captain Holly Short. So she got out a pencil and jotted down a head. Unfortunately... *dramatic pause* ... Kipin couldn't tell whether the head she had drawn was the head of a figure or a head of spring lettuce... so she erased it and tried again. And again. And again. And eventually, she ended up with something remotely head-like in shape.
This interesting proccess continued for the rest of the body, especially the left hand, which never really came out to Kipin's satisfaction. And several years later, when the Artemis Fowl graphic novel made its debut, Kipin compared the Holly illustrations in the book to her own profile drawing, and was ashamed. Very ashamed. For she had royally botched Holly's adorable pixie haircut!!! O, the horrah!!! *dies*
All right, kids, that's your story for today. Stop by again to be captivated by the wonder and awesomeness of Mother Goose's Human Sidekick!
The pic was done in regular old 2b pencil. The wooden kind. Waow, Kipin hasn't drawn with one of those in years...

Azurion and Amethyst

Yes, yes, Kipin is aware that she already posted today... but gaah! Aren't they CUTE?! *dies*

I luvz these two to death (Lady Arin and her sidekick have them now.) The blue one is Azurion and the purple one is Amethyst. Lady Arin, I suppose your sidekick could call Amethyst, Amy if she wanted. Anyway, I had to paint the boxes with acrylic paint before gluing the dragons to them, and mi luvverly madre used her awe-inspiring supergluing madskillz to fix the dragons to the lids. Dragons made out of wire mesh and Sculpey III, as usual... although Kipin did get a bunch of cool new Sculpey stuff for Christmas and her birthday that she hasn't had a chance to try out yet, like... GLAZE! Yes, you heard right - GLAZE! Kipin totally freaked out when she got it (didn't she, Lady Arin?) Ah, happy day! Anyhoo, I am now in possession of: Studio Glossy Glaze and Satin Glaze, by Sculpey; Sculpey Bake & Bend; and Sculpey Premo. The Premo and the Bake & Bend are supposed to stay flexible after kilning - ahem - baking, but I haven't had the time to test that theory out as of yet.

Celtic soap

Good Day, peoples! Here be ye soap that Commander Kip promised ye. Behold! These are the rectangular ones:
And these are the... not-so-rectangular ones.

Note to self: refridgerate before trying to dig out of mold. Yeah, Kipin tried to gouge them out of the mold with a paring knife before they had their stint in the fridge. Hint hint - it didn't work very well. Definately not doing that next time. Guess what else I'm not doing next time? Trying to add a few extra drops of semi-hardened soap to a not-quite-full mold. That just makes a bunch of messy ugly bumps on the bottom. Rawr, sez I.
Used the Spa Indulgence Celtic Knot kit for these and gave most of them away as Christmas presents. Project Stress Level: super flippin' HIGH. Ye be warned!
